just so i don't forget and lose this. i use it for paragraph indentation.
Non-breaking Space
The most common character entity in HTML is the non-breaking space.
Normally HTML will truncate spaces in your text. If you write 10 spaces in your text HTML will remove 9 of them. To add lots of spaces to your text, use the &nb sp; character entity. i inserted a space in there for display. 160; is the number.
ampersand nbsp semi-colon is the character entity name.
ampersand pound 160 semi-colon is the character entity number.
info comes from this page.

obsolete already?
well technically not yet but mandriva has a new release coming and kde has just released their latest. in fact i've installed the mandriva 2010.1 spring beta 1 w/ kde 4.4.2 and am quite enjoying it. i'm wondering just how much time i should spend in my already obsolete 1 week old virtual machine. this beta is working remarkably well so maybe i should go ahead and switch over.
a most remarkable thing occured to me shortly after exploring it. i spent a couple of hours checking it out then i took a break. it suddenly occured to me that i hadn't noticed those pesky tool tips. what the heck, did they become less conspicuous or did i get used to them? whatever happened i'm glad that petty annoyance isn't so glaring anymore.
i'm still only exploring for a few hours every day rather than jumping in cold turkey. i must say it does look quite promising.
here's some screenshots of mandriva 2010.1 spring beta w/ kde 4.4.2.
