man oh man oh man, i can't find time to update my blog. a couple of big distractions are keeping me away. first is that i'm working more lately so that is seriously cutting into my puter playtime. what can i do i gotta pay the rent.
i wish i could figure out how to make the web support me. i have mixed feelings about this. on one hand i admire those entrepreneurial types that are "making it" with multiple domains, advertising accounts, even legitimate web businesses. on the other hand i've been sitting here spending most of my time blocking those stinking adverts. oh well, i'll figure something out.
the second thing is i've rediscovered twitter. lots of interesting stuff can be found there. i think it's quite a fad at the moment. yup, i call it a fad. it might stick around awhile but i'm sure the growth will level off soon. in the meantime it's fun.
a couple of other distractions are all the new web sites and software updates to keep up with. it sure is hard keeping track of billions of new web pages but i'm trying, lol. not to mention all of the new GNU/Linux releases. i'm way behind on exploring many of those.

a first
today i saw a microsoft computer with an internet connection at best buy. i was surprised to say the least. i've been browsing all of my local computer retailers for about 7 years now and have never seen a windows machine connected to the web. i played around with it a little bit but i had to resist a powerful urge to test the security. a little voice in my ear kept saying, "put a virus on it". sheesh, golly gee whiz, i didn't realize i had such an evil streak in me. i guess my contempt for microsoft comes out in weird ways. there's something about microsoft that just makes ya wanna attack them.
fortunately i didn't know how to do anything malicious, lol. the worst thing i could think of was to download and install yahoo instant messenger and allow the bundled toolbar to hijack internet exploder, lol. (do they still do that?). instead i used the "live" search toolbar to search for linux and changed the internet exploder home page to linux dot org. haha, i still remember how to change the home page. take that microsoft.
it did seem like a nice computer, too bad it had windows on it. if it had a GNU/Linux distribution on it i would have seriously considered buying it. i absolutely, positively, refuse to buy a microsoft computer.
